Propagation Day at Bellbrae Primary School

On Wednesday the 9th of March, 2022, Torquay and District Landcare, together with Graham Stockton, spent time with the Grade Six "Connected Kids and the Environment" group at Bellbrae Primary School to propagate indigenous plants and talk about plants and our local environment.

Torquay and District Landcare and Graham Stockton, recently spent a lovely day with the kids from the Connected Kids and Environment group from Bellbrae Primary school.

Hands on learning about propagation and germination methods was enhanced by discussions around indigenous plants and biodiversity in the area around Bellbrae. Giving the children a valuable source of information and an increased interest in the local environment.

The students helped to propagate a few hundred plants which they will take care of for the next few months. The students of Bellbrae Primary will then get the opportunity to plant these indigenous plants in local areas as part of conservation projects that are part of the Victorian Landcare Grants.

We look forward to the next chapter of this project and can’t wait to see how much the plants have grown under the care of Bellbrae Primary School’s grade sixes!
